School Pictures

Today is school picture day! I love those cheesy photos. My family doesn't understand why I pay for professional pictures with a family photographer and buy the school ones. Why? Because every child needs those school pictures to look back and laugh/cringe at!

This year, I ordered the beautiful Ellen dress from Persnickety . I was so excited! The retro style is totally Lu and the colors would look phenom on her.
Then stupid me didn't have her try it on until the night before pictures! Really. So stupid. It was too small! I was shocked. I ordered a 7 which she's typically a 6/7 (so I was actually worried it would be too big). It was so tight across the chest. You could see it being pulled under her arms so it was a no-go.

My second choice was the Breezy top from Matilda Jane with a pink tutu skirt. But I was just not feeling it.
Ultimately I pulled this sweet little smocked dress I bought on clearance at the beginning of summer from Smocked A Lot.
Even my sister was surprised by my choice.
She looked darling and she's all about animals, especially sea creatures so she was totally on board.

Here are the outfits she's worn in school picture pasts.

Lazy Day

I was babysitting my 18-month old nephew all weekend. He is a goat baby. Seriously. He will climb anything and when you tell him to get down, he laughs. Suffice to say, I am beat. I wanted something comfy for work today. This maxi fit the bill. Since it wasn’t exactly office appropriate and our AC is blasting non-stop, I covered up with a chambray top. I’m the worst at changing out my purses but I actually didn’t mind this together.

Dress: American Eagle, Chambray: Old Navy,
Bag: Nordstrom, Sunglasses that make me look like a bug: Priceless.

Matilda Jane Sale

Oh, Matilda Jane. You make my ovaries tingle. I need a new baby girl, STAT. In the meantime, I'll just settle for adding baby things to my cart for my imaginary baby, Midge (don't steal her name!). Oh, and for that real girlchild I do have.

Fantasy Folk Dress- The simplicity of this dress is what makes it so sweet. Not to mention that color looks fab on Lu

Midsummer Hoodie- I just love MJC hoodies. We've had the Homegrown one in multiple sizes. This one just knocks it out of the park on cuteness. We've had it long before the sale and it really is one of my most favorite MJ pieces of all time.

On Our Way tee- Another great thing about MJC....you can match your child! I am a child of the 90s. We have lots of pictures of Laura Ashley matching with our mama. Now, I am proud to carry on that tradition!

The matching Mama shirt is the Stripes Forever. When is back to school night again....?

For {Imaginary} Baby Midge, I die for this Pinwheel Swing dress.

Go, go, go shop that Matilda Jane sale! These things go quick. I mean y'all know those crazy MJ mamas.

Nordstrom {End of Summer Sale}

Oh yeah! One of the best things about this weekend is all the great sales. Here are my picks for this Labor Day weekend sales.

First up is this great stripe blazer from Calson. A piece that would rock at the office or paired with some skinny jeans and graphic tee for the weekend. Under $25?! Makes this a girls dream come true.

Next, we have this utility vest from Gibson. It's linen so it will work well now, paired with a tank like shown, or in the upcoming fall months.

I'll admit, I'm not the best at accessorizing or even layering. I love nothing more than a cute top that I can just throw on and still look dressed up. This fits the bill from Ace Delivery. Love that print!

My last pic is this beautiful dress from oat + fawn. That blue color is going to look amazing with an end-of-summer tan!

For Lu, I love these Tucker + Tate jeggings. That floral print is gorg and she is all about a good pair of jeggings!
Lulu's new favorite style is all about sporty chic. We saw this in-store and her pleas were heard round the mall.

My final pic for Lu would be this gorgeous dress! That print is to-die for! I want it in my size. I could see this being a contender for school pictures.

So don't forget to shop Nordstrom's sale!
